First, my apologies for this post being a week late. I had held back due to the liner notes last Saturday, and then got hit with a wave of ridiculousness from the rest of my on- and offline life, including a cross-country flight. I’m in the Seattle area for another two weeks if anyone’s local and wants to get a coffee or will be attending Geek Girl Con.
Second, you can revisit the rules for submission to the Monthly Challenge here in full. The truncated version:
Fanfiction: 1500 words or less
Images: minimum of 640 pixels wide and 360 pixels tall, maximum of 1280 pixels wide and 720 pixels tall
Detail left out of previous post: Please rate your work as General Audiences, Teen, Mature, Explicit/NSFW.
Send submissions to dgcfanworks@gmail.com by 10/28, for posting on 10/31
Finally, this month’s prompts, to be interpreted in any way you like:
Your word/trope/kink/cliche is VAMPIRISM.
Your song and video prompt, Delta Rae’s “Bottom of the River”:
There are two image prompts because I couldn’t choose between them. Credits are below each image.

If you’re in need of a beta or brainstormer, leave a comment here for help, and likewise if you’ve got questions.
I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!

Oooh I love those pics!
I’m totally cursing my lack of home computer right now…
Aren’t they gorgeous? I went searching for ‘ghosts’ and they came up. I don’t want to influence anyone, but the first looks kind of like they could be holding a guitar case, and the second makes me think about this whole subplot with Janessa. I have no idea what I’m going to do for my submission, but I hope other folks are getting inspired toward something.
When you asked me about doing something spooky I thought I’d struggle with that because it’s just not a concept I think about with DGC, but I’ve already got an idea and nothing but a stupid phone to work with! Grrr.
Didn’t see the “guitar” at first….that’s so cool/creepy! Love it!
Interesting…I hit “reply” to the previous post. Not sure why it made a new one…
I had accidentally posted a new comment instead of a reply to your first one, so maybe we crossed paths while I was deleting my response and moving it? Who knows?
I say steal your kid’s computer. She’ll forgive you eventually.
Chris was just telling me she found an app that lets you add text to images on a phone, called Phonto. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet myself but maybe it’ll help?
Oooh, that’s good to know. I got inspired to write this time (without the angstiness of writing the threesome scene. lol) but I’ll keep that in mind for next time.
I’m super excited you guys.
